Bowling Fun Facts ... (1-10)

Here at Westbrook, we are a fun, family oriented bowling center.  We like to make your experience unforgettable! 

So here are some interesting facts about bowling that you may or may not have known!


Fact #1:  A bowling lane is 60 feet long from the foul line to the headpin.  (Which is coincidentally the same distance from the pitcher's mound to home plate in baseball!)

Fact #2:  The first 300 game in a televised PBA event was rolled by Jack Biondolillo in the Tournament of Champions. 

Fact #3:  PBA stands for Professional Bowlers Association, which was established in 1958.

Fact #4:  Bowling balls were made out of wood until the early 1900s. 

Fact #5:  The largest bowling center is located in Japan and has 141 lanes. 

Fact #6:  The first indoor bowling lanes were built in New York City in 1840.

Fact #7:  A bowling ball weighs between 6 to 16 pounds.

Fact #8:  The United States Bowling Congress has more than 2.5 million members.

Fact #9:  Bowling is the number one participation sport in America.

Fact #10:  The origins of bowling can be traced about 4,000 years back to Rome and Greece.
